Kitimat
Whether fishing the river or ocean, Kitimat is known for trophy fishing.
With a backdrop of rugged, snow capped mountains, fishing for steelhead, salmon, halibut and other bottom fish is in a truly amazing setting here in Kitimat. Our season begins in March and lasts until mid October. Targeted species include Steelhead, Chinook, Coho, Halibut, Spotted Prawns and Dungeness crabs.
Fishwestcoast Sportfishing Adventures is set up for both saltwater and freshwater excursions, we utilize a welded aluminium Hyde drift boat to conduct drift trips down the Kitimat river while on the saltwater we have the 24' SeaWest II docked at the MK marina and always ready to go for all of your ocean adventures.
Spring is when the steelhead are abundant, which average 8-12lbs. Next are the hard fighting chinook salmon which can reach well over 40lbs, with the last run of the season being, the coho salmon and averaging 7-10lbs.
Halibut and other bottom fishing can be fantastic all season long.
Anglers dreaming of catching the 'Big One' will find opportunities aboard one of our fishing adventures located in Kitimat, British Columbia.
